Low maintenance garden space in Twickenham, Middlesex
SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA The use of a geometric layout and repetition of materials like hardwood decking and sawn sandstone help coordinate the space. This garden is transformed at night with subtle lighting, and a patio heater extending the enjoyment of the space beyond the hours of daylight. The hardwood deck is set at the same level as the day room to help connect indoor to out. A simple raised planter wraps around an artificial lawn and special attention to the boundaries enhance this small space.
Project Brief
Transform from a soulless paved patio to a green and harmonious outdoor space. This young family required a simple organised space, with neat pretty evergreen planting with low maintenance key for their hectic schedules.
Project Solution
Firstly, we removed all the concrete paving. We then clad the unattractive neighbouring fence with horizontal-slatted, black stained timber which now screens three sides. A simple raised planter wraps around an artificial lawn. Sawn sandstone leads from hardwood deck which is set at the same level as the day room indoors to help the flow and connection with the indoors. The garden has points of interest like a wall mounted water feature and subtle lighting and patio heater allow evenings to entertain and enjoy.
