Low maintenance garden space in Twickenham, TW1

Project Brief

Transform from a soulless paved patio to a green and harmonious outdoor space. This young family required a simple organised space, with neat pretty evergreen planting with low maintenance key for their hectic schedules.

Project Solution

Firstly, we removed all the concrete paving. We then clad the unattractive neighbouring fence with horizontal-slatted, black stained  timber which now screens three sides. A simple raised planter wraps around an artificial lawn. Sawn sandstone leads from hardwood deck which is set at the same level as the day room indoors to help the flow and connection with the indoors. The garden has points of interest like a wall mounted water feature and subtle lighting and patio heater allow evenings to entertain and enjoy.

Project Features

  • Atmospheric lighting
  • Wall mounted water feature
  • Attention to the boundaries inevitably enhances such small space
  • This garden is transformed at night with subtle lighting, and a patio heater extending the enjoyment of the space beyond hours of daylight
  • The use of a geometric layout and repetition of materials help coordinate the space
